Nicholas Morrett

Mr. Morrett is a Marietta native born and raised right down the street from Wheeler High School.

As a performer, Mr. Morrett began his theatre career in high school at Lassiter High School where he played Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof”. That is where he knew he wanted to make Theatre his life. He graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2010 with a BA in Musical Theatre. While in college and after graduation, he was able to perform at many of the theatres in Atlanta including Actors Express, Aurora Theatre, Theatrical Outfit, Stage Door Players, Georgia Ensemble Theatre, The Atlanta Lyric Theatre and many others. After a few years, he made the move to NYC where he made his Off-Broadway Debut originating the role of Laura Lee Handle in “Fabulous, A New Musical”.  Upon returning to Atlanta, Mr. Morrett continued performing and made his Alliance Theatre Debut originating the role of Bob in the Bebe Winan’s Broadway Bound Musical “Born for This”. He was able to continue with the show for the next 4 years until the Pandemic hit and unfortunately, the show never made it to Broadway.

Most recently, he performed with The Atlanta Opera in Cabaret and with City Springs Theatre Company in The Music Man under the direction of Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley and The Wizard of Oz as the Cowardly Lion under the direction of Broadway Legend Baayork Lee.

As a teacher, Mr. Morrett has been teaching, directing and music directing for over 20 years. He has taught and directed at numerous schools, theatres and art facilities all over Atlanta. He created and ran the Music Program at Impact Dance of Atlanta for almost 10 years. He has his own studio where many of his private students have gone on to perform on Broadway and Off-Broadway, National Tours, Cruise Ships, and even the Rockettes. He has had the honor of using his passion and experiences in theatre to help educate and teach the new generation of performers achieve their goals. Since beginning at Wheeler in the Fall of 2023, Wheeler Theatre has received multiple recognitions and accolades for their thriving productions as well as hitting record numbers for their productions. 

At the end of the 2025-2026 year, Mr. Morrett received the CCSD Fine Arts Theatre Teacher of the Year Award.
